One our focuses here at Bloom in the Wild is holistic living - with ease. By making small changes toward cleaner living, you can make manageable shifts to your routines.
We are not asking you to go full-on off-the-grid/homesteading. We just want you to be more conscious of the ingredients in your food, household items, and self-care items.
Switching to healthier and Earth-conscious options can seem daunting. We want to start you out with three easy items to switch out over the next month, to make your own world less toxic - by limiting plastics and reducing the chemicals in products you use in your daily life.
Re-haul your Laundry Routine
Traditional laundry detergent is not ideal. Too many chemicals and plastics that forever impact the Earth for us and our future generations. Back in my crunchy yoga days, I made my own detergent mix.
However, life is too busy for that most of the time.
I started using Blue Land Laundry (and other products that I will introduce you too after you have time to make these three switches). It smells great and cleans great. No need for bleach or scent boosters.
You will want to get two things to get started: Blue Land Detergent Tab Starter Kit and the Blue Land Oxy Booster Starter Kit.
Both of the kits come with a tin for storing the product and the refills are plastic-free.
Your Most Essential Self-Care Product: Moisturizer
I am hedging on 40. I did not take care of my skin growing up. It is what it is, but moving forward I can do everything I can to help. I will write a full review of my skincare at some point, but for now, I give you my favorite product: Typology 9-Ingredient Moisturizer.
Typology, based in France, touts Vegan, concentrated formulas that have natural ingredients. Everything you put on your skin absorbs into your blood stream. Skincare like this is a better option than mass-produced American options.
Is it more expensive? Yes.
I use barely a nickel-size dollop of the moisturizer 2x a day and it lasts forever. My skin is clearer and smoother. Once I get everything sorted out, I will share my full skincare routine.
Side note: get castor oil in your medicine cabinet. We are going to be using it a lot. I keep it in these cute glass dropper-bottles for easier use.
Easy Breezy Tooth Care
Another way to drop plastics in your home is by switching from traditional toothpaste in a tube to chewable toothpaste tablets. I found these while visiting my bestie, Lauren, in San Francisco. She has helped so much in finding these brands, including Blue Land.
I use the brand Huppy and they have a starter kit, just like Blue Land. Refills come plastic free and in multiple options.
While you're at it, ditch your plastic toothbrushes for bamboo ones: Bamboo Toothbrush Kit.
Now it is time to implement!
Be conscious - do not throw out your current products just to start using these. Use them up, but order these to get your kit started. Our next article will provide event MORE options to get plastic free, reduce chemicals, and use better products in your life.
